CranioSacral Therapy (CST)

CranioSacral therapy is ultra-gentle bodywork to help release tension and restore balance. CST can relieve acute or chronic pain, headaches, migraines, backaches, nerve compression, and muscular and tendon issues due to injuries to the head or spine. It has a deeply calming effect on the nervous system, making it highly effecting in reducing stress, anxiety and trauma.

CST can also be effective in relieving TMJ dysfunction (TMJD) by addressing underlying imbalances in the craniosacral system and promoting proper alignment and function of the jaw joint. If you have TMJD, your therapist may blend CST with Intraoral Massage to provide a comprehensive treatment.

Your body’s CranioSacral system includes the dense connective tissue that surrounds your brain and spine, your skull and all vertebra bones, cerebrospinal fluid, and your connective tissues located from the head to the tail bone. Other flows and rhythms in the body — including blood and lymph flow and the regulation of breathing and sleeping — are intimately linked and affected by the flow and rhythm of cerebrospinal fluid.

During a session, the therapist will lightly touch and hold your head, spine and sacrum to feel your craniosacral rhythm. If restrictions and imbalances are felt, then a gentle pressure is applied to release tension and restore balance.

CranioSacral therapy treatments are generally considered safe and non-invasive. It is well tolerated by individuals of all ages, from infants to the elderly.
